Concrete slab breaking and removal
in Montreal
Reliable concrete slab removal across the island of Montreal.
A plex backyard no machine can reach, an old frost-heaved patio, a shed base at the back by the lane: we break it with the jackhammer, carry the pieces out by hand and leave with them. You get your yard back, without renting a tool.
Breaking priced up front · Hand-loaded, even with no machine access · Concrete 100% recycled
Concrete slab breaking and removal in Montreal: patios, walkways, shed and garage bases, pool surrounds, even in yards with no machine access.
The concrete slab behind the plex is cracked and heaved by frost, and you want to replace it with grass or a vegetable garden. Or it's the base of the old shed, the walkway that leads nowhere, the pool surround in a West Island bungalow yard. We come with the electric jackhammer, break it into pieces we can carry, load by hand, even through the back lane when the yard has no other access, and the concrete goes to recycling. You get your corner of the yard back.
What we break and what we haul away
- Poured concrete patios and terraces, heaved by frost or cracked
- Walkways, paths and concrete curbs, including sections coming loose
- Shed bases and slabs left behind after a demolition
- Small garage and carport slabs, unreinforced or with light mesh
- Above-ground pool surrounds and concrete pads around a removed hot tub
- Poured concrete steps and stoops, thresholds and landings
- Paving stones, precast patio slabs and stacked concrete blocks
- The concrete that comes out: loaded, hauled and 100% recycled, crushed into aggregate
What we do not do
- Foundations, concrete walls and large reinforced garage slabs: call us first, we tell you honestly whether it is a job for us or for an excavator
- Diamond sawing, coring and precision cutting
- Excavation and backfill: we remove the slab and leave the ground roughly levelled, no new gravel
- Concrete contaminated with oil or chemicals, and glued coverings that may contain asbestos
How it works for your slab
Send us 3 or 4 photos of the slab with rough dimensions (length, width, thickness if you can see the edge) through the form or by text at 438 230 3808. We reply within 2 hours with the breaking price, confirmed up front, and our best estimate of the volume the concrete will take in the truck. Loading, hauling and disposal follow the grid by volume, confirmed at the end on what was actually loaded. For concrete, one trip is 5 cubic yards. On the day, we protect what stays around (house foundation, fence, lawn), break with the electric jackhammer, hand-load and pick up the chips and dust before leaving. Large area? We plan several trips ahead.
Why hand us your slab
Breaking a slab yourself means renting a jackhammer, filling buckets, finding somewhere to take the concrete and losing your weekend to it. We show up equipped, protect the foundation, the fence and the neighbour's yard, break, load and leave with it, in one visit for most residential slabs. Breaking is fixed up front; loading follows the grid by volume, with 5 cubic yards per concrete trip. Clean concrete is 100% recycled, and if your slab is too thick or too reinforced for us, we tell you honestly over the phone.

Ramasse Vite was founded in 2025 by three partners: Pavel, Mickael and Justin. Starting out on the South Shore, they shared the belief that junk removal could be reliable, transparent and done right. Ramasse Vite Montréal is the same crew and the same way of working, all over the island.
Our mission is simple: make junk removal and waste pickup effortless for our clients. Whether it's furniture removal, construction debris hauling, a basement or garage cleanout, or a full property clearout, we handle every project with diligence, cleanliness, punctuality, and a genuine environmental urgency. Our crew knows Montreal's realities: plexes and their outdoor staircases, back lanes, tight parking and the July 1st rush.

FAQ: concrete slab removal in Montreal
How much does it cost to break and remove a concrete slab?
In two parts. Breaking is the jackhammer labour: confirmed up front from photos, within 2 hours. Loading, hauling and disposal follow the grid by volume, like any other pickup, confirmed at the end on what was actually loaded. For concrete, one trip is 5 cubic yards, half the truck. From photos, we give you the best volume estimate we can.
How thick a slab can you break?
Common residential slabs: 4 to 6 inches, unreinforced or with light mesh, with an electric jackhammer. A thick reinforced garage slab, a foundation or a concrete wall is a job for an excavator, and we tell you so honestly over the phone rather than waste your day.
Do you also remove the gravel and soil underneath?
We remove the slab and the pieces, pick up chips and dust, and leave the ground as is, roughly levelled. We do no excavation or backfill, but if you want us to take the crushed stone or the old pavers around it too, say so with the photos and we include it in the price.
Where does the concrete go afterwards?
To recycling, 100%: the concrete is crushed into aggregate for roads and foundations. That is why we do not take concrete contaminated with oil or chemicals, it could not be recycled.
Can you come the same day?
Reply in under 2 hours, pickup within 24 to 48 hours, often same-day on weekdays. Breaking is noisy: we plan daytime work and confirm the window ahead.
Does it damage the lawn or the house foundation?
We protect what stays: controlled pieces, a safe distance from the foundation and windows, hand-loading rather than a machine rolling over the grass. Our liability insurance covers damage during the work.
Do you also break a paver patio or a block shed base?
Yes. Paving stones, precast slabs, concrete blocks and the curbs that go with them: we lift, load and leave with it. If a shed is still on top, we can demolish it in the same visit, that is our shed demolition page.
